Pride Center Volunteer Application

Volunteers at the Pride Center of the Capital Region can support a variety of administrative opportunities that help sustain our operations and mission-driven work. These include:

Front Desk Support – Greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and providing general information about programs and services.

Data Entry & Filing – Assisting with organizing donor records, program participation data, and other key documentation. General

Office Assistance – Organizing supplies, assembling mailings, and supporting daily administrative tasks.

This monthly group for LGBTQ+ folks age 55+ allows participants to connect with each other and build community in an safe and accepting space. It meets once a month at the Colonie Senior Services Center and is in need of volunteers to support the group by leading or co-leading the event, taking attendance and sharing any updates or news with them. Volunteers should also be part of the 55+ LGBTQ+ community.

The Aging with Pride Potluck is a welcoming monthly gathering for LGBTQIA+ seniors and allies to connect, share a meal, and build community. Held on the first Sunday of every month from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Albany, this potluck fosters a supportive and affirming space for older adults to socialize and celebrate together. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share, but participation is welcome regardless of contribution. Join us for great food, meaningful connections, and a celebration of pride across generations!

Looking for facilitators who have a background in working with youth to help lead our weekly Friday night youth group from 4-8pm.

Community service at the Pride Center involves participating in activities aimed at supporting and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. This may include assisting with events, helping with outreach initiatives, or offering support in various administrative or operational tasks. The goal of community service is to foster inclusion, promote awareness, and build a sense of belonging for the community.

Creative Time at the Pride Center allows participants to bring their own quiet, portable creative projects, such as knitting, drawing or writing, and enjoy the community and synergy of working in a shared space together. All are welcome ages 18 and up. This community group takes place every 3rd Saturday of the Month, 4-6 pm.

A weekly yoga class for the LGBTQ+ community led at the Pride Center on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturday.

Weekly ongoing group for anyone identifying as transgender, gender nonconforming, and/or nonbinary to find community.

General Bucket for all groups to be split by shift

A group for LGBTQ+ women, and other queer femme identified folks. Every Wednesday from 6-8 pm  participants have the opportunity to meet and build community.

Queer Albany Reads is an LGBTQ+ book club that meets every 4th Sunday of the month at the Pride Center of the Capital Region.
The group discusses their previous book choice and chooses a new book to read at each meeting. The group focuses on diverse and creative works with LGBTQ+ representation. No registration is required, come down and join your fellow bookworms!

The Rainbow Runners Group is calling all LGBTQ+ folks and allies to come together for a weekly dose of fun, fitness and friendship. If you're looking to jog between 3-4 miles, you've found your crew. All levels are welcome, from beginners to seasoned runners. This group will meet every Wednesday from 6-7 pm at Mr. Bumbles Cafe, the heart of our community and the starting line of our weekly runs.

Join the Pride Center in promoting dignity, safety, and resilience for older LGBTQIA+ adults at the Find Hope and Resilience Facing Elder Abuse Together: A Resource Fair in honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. This community event—hosted by Whitney Young Health, Equinox, and Albany Guardian Society—aims to raise awareness about elder abuse, with this year’s theme: “Beyond Age.”

We’re seeking 1-2 volunteers to represent the Pride Center by staffing our informational table at the fair. This is a great opportunity to share resources and engage with community members and service providers around affirming support for LGBTQIA+ older adults.
